Public Health Outcome Funding Agreements (PHOFAs) - Commonwealth-wide Information
The Public Health Outcome Funding Agreements are the bilateral funding agreements between the Commonwealth and each State and Territory under which the Commonwealth provides financial assistance to support State/Territory work towards achieving agreed national population health outcomes.

The first Agreements were for the two-year period 1997-98 to 1998-99.

The third Agreements are now in operation, and are for the five-year period 2004-2005 to 2008-2009
The third agreements include funding for the following broad areas of public health:- Communicable Diseases;
- Cancer Screening; and
- Health Risk factors, including alcohol and tobacco use, women’s health, and sexual and reproductive health.
