Amendments To August 2015 Prostheses List
The delegate of the Minister for Health has made the Private Health Insurance (Prostheses) Amendment Rules 2015 No 3
(the Amendment Rules).
The Amendment Rules implement changes to the Prostheses List that would have been made in the August 2015 Prostheses List, but for delays and errors in processing applications and requests.
The changes are being made to the Prostheses List now, rather than when the Private Health Insurance (Prostheses) Rules are next made in February 2016, so as not to unduly disadvantage stakeholders.
Attached to this circular are spreadsheets providing information about the changes in the Amendment Rules, to enable stakeholders to start making the necessary changes to their systems for claims and payments.
Briefly, the changes in the Amendment Rules are:
- adding cardiac home/remote monitoring system to the prostheses that can be listed in Part C;
- adding 3 cardiac home/remote monitoring systems to Part C;
- adding 3 new prostheses to Part A;
- adding 4 new human tissue items to Part B;
- reinstating 6 prostheses to Part A that were deleted in error;
- deleting 24 billing codes from Part A;
- transferring 30 billing codes to new sponsors on Part A; and
- changing details of listing of 3 items on Part A.
It is expected that the Amendment Rules will be registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (FRLI) on or about 9 November 2015.
The effective date of the Amendment Rules will be 27 November 2015
Please note that this information is provided to stakeholders as a courtesy to inform them about important changes.
The authority for these changes will be the Amendment Rules. These will be available on the ComLaw website
when they are registered on FRLI. Instructions on how to use ComLaw are available on the home page.
