Amendment to 2016 Premium Round application submission date
This circular provides updated information in relation to the 2016 private health insurance premium round. Arrangements for dealing with applications for changes to premium rates for 2016 have been determined in consultation with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). Administrative arrangements will closely reflect those of recent years although in 2016 APRA will be assisting the Department of Health with the technical analysis of applications.
The Department of Health will be the principal body responsible for collecting and analysing premium change applications lodged by insurers and for providing advice to the Minister for Health. The Department of Health will consult with APRA throughout the process.
Private health insurers seeking changes to premiums must submit an application in the approved form by no later than 3:00pm Friday 13 November 2015. Early submission of applications is encouraged.
The timetable for the premium round is:

Applications must be submitted via the PHI Premium Round inbox
. APRA will provide the applications to the Department of Health.
Form of Application
Each application must be in the approved form. Attached to this circular are the approved application form, Attachment A (Excel template), and Attachment B (guide to premium application compilation).
Applications not consistent with the approved form cannot be accepted for determination under section 66-10(1)(a) of the Private Health Insurance Act 2007
