Prostheses List Advisory Committee Appointments

The Minister for Health, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, has appointed four new members and re-appointed four members to the Prostheses List Advisory Committee (PLAC).
The PLAC was established in October 2012. One half of the members were appointed for four years and the other half for two years. The two year appointments expired recently.
The new appointees to the PLAC are:
  • Ms Kaye Donoghue (nominated by the private hospitals industry)
  • Mr Nicholas Shalley (nominated by the medical device industry)
  • Dr Jui Tham (nominated by the private health insurance industry)
  • Dr Ian McRae (health economist)
  • Mr Henry Ko (nominated by the Consumers’ Health Forum of Australia)
The members re-appointed for a further term are:
  • Associate Professor Bill Heddle
  • Associate Professor David Morgan
  • Ms Letitia Hope (ex-officio member, Department of Veterans’ Affairs), and
  • Mr Will Hanham (ex-officio member, Department of Veterans’ Affairs).
The new members will attend their first PLAC meeting on 19 March 2015, following a brief induction program.

The PLAC is the Ministerially-appointed committee that advises the Minister on listing and benefits for prostheses on the Prostheses List.
