Private Health Insurance Rebate – Rebate Adjustment Factor Effective 1 April 2015

The Australian Government Rebate on private health insurance is annually indexed on 1 April by a Rebate Adjustment Factor (RAF) representing the difference between the Consumer Price Index and the industry weighted average increase in premiums. The RAF is set out in the Private Health Insurance (Incentives) Rules 2012 (No.2).

The CPI factor for 2015 is 1.0172 and industry weighted average premium increase for 2015 (including rate protection) is 6.18%.

The RAF for 2015 is 0.958.

Enquiries by insurers on the claiming of the Rebate should be referred to the Department of Human Services on 1300 554 463.

Enquiries by insurers on the MLS should be referred to the ATO helpline on 13 28 61.
