Private Health Insurers' Second Tier Default Benefit Rates Annual Audit
Private health insurers are reminded that annual lists of un-audited Second Tier Default Benefit rates, from 1 September 2011 to 30 August 2012, are due to the Department of Health and Ageing by 31 August 2011.The audited rates, along with a statement from the auditor stating that the rates have been calculated in accordance with Schedule 5 of the Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2010, are due to the Department and the Private Health Insurance Administration Council (PHIAC) by 30 September 2011.
This requirement is contained in Part 7 of the Administrative Arrangements for the Second Tier Default Benefits for Overnight and Day Only Treatment (see attachment to Circular PHI 30/10) and is designed to facilitate the operation of Schedule 5 of the Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2010 made under item 3A of the table in section 333-20 of the Private Health Insurance Act 2007.
In order to reduce the amount of paper used to meet this requirement, it is preferred that both the un-audited and the audited rates (along with the statement from the auditor), be emailed to Ann Mulholland
If an electronic version is not available, a hardcopy of the second tier listing should be printed, double-sided if possible, and posted to:
