Appointment of the new Prostheses List Advisory Committee

Purpose

The purpose of this Circular is to inform prostheses sponsors and other interested groups of the appointment of the new Prostheses List Advisory Committee (PLAC), which has replaced the Prostheses and Devices Committee (PDC).

Prostheses List Advisory Committee

The Health Technology Assessment Review (HTA Review) recommended that the PDC be restructured by July 2010. The Minister for Health and Ageing approved the establishment of the new advisory committee, the PLAC, in October 2010. The new committee is comprised of an independent Chair, with members having expertise in current clinical practise, health insurance, consumer health, health economics, health policy, private hospitals and the medical device industry.

The PLAC is planning to hold three meetings before the end of the year.
