Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Amendment Rules 2010 (no. 3) and the Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Amendment Rules 2010 (no. 2)

Changes to the Benefit Requirements Rules

The Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Amendment Rules 2010 (No.3) (the Benefit Requirements Amendment Rules) were registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (FRLI) on 21 June 2010 (FRLI No: F2010L01646). These rules amended the Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2010 (the Benefit Requirements Rules).
    1. Increases to overnight accommodation benefits and same day accommodation benefits at private hospitals and public hospitals (except in Queensland and Western Australia) to reflect the March 2009 to March 2010 Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase.
    2. Increases to the minimum benefits for Nursing-Home Type Patients (NHTP) at public hospitals in the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory and South Australia.

Changes to the Complying Product Rules

The Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Amendment Rules 2010 (No.2) (Complying Product Amendment Rules) were registered with the FRLI on 21 June 2010 (FRLI No: F2010L01647). These Rules amended the Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Rules 2010 (the Complying Product Rules).
    • Increases to the NHTP contribution at public hospitals in the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.
