Pathology Services Table Committee

Pathology Services Table Committee (PSTC)

This Committee keeps the Pathology Services Table (PST) under review to ensure that the services, fees and conditions for use are appropriate, and consults with professional and other expert groups on these issues.

The Pathology Services Table (PST) of the Medicare Benefits Schedule lists the pathology tests for which Medicare benefits are available, their Schedule fees and conditions for use. The role of the Pathology Services Table Committee (PSTC) is to provide clinical advice to the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), the Pathology Agreement Advisory Committee (PAAC) and the policy area of the Department on matters related to the Pathology Services Table (PST). The Committee keeps the Table under review to ensure that the services, fees and conditions for use are appropriate, and consults with professional and other expert groups on these issues.

Membership

The PSTC is currently being re-established as an expert clinical committee with members to be selected for their clinical expertise including pathologists and medical scientists from various pathology disciplines and pathology-requesting medical professionals. The membership will be from both the public and private sectors.
