In early 2000 the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH) commissioned Dr Penny Miller, a public health specialist to conduct a review of donovanosis control within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and, where necessary, to recommend key strategies to achieve national eradication of donovanosis.   These recomendations are outlined in Dr Miller's report, Donovanosis: control or eradication? A situation review of donovanosis control in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations in Australia.

This review was developed from input from people with experience in donovanosis within Indigenous communities around Australia and the Indigenous Australians' Sexual Health Committee of the Australian National Council on AIDS and Related Diseases (ANCAHRD).   This review has been endorsed by ANCAHRD
