This report is the Government's response to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Family and Community Affairs inquiry into the health status of Indigenous Australians. The Government responds to each of the 36 recommendations made by the inquiry's 'Health is Life' report.

The Government notes that a number of its current initiatives in structural reform, the development of partnership approaches, responses to specific health and health related issues and improvements in data collection and accountability reporting are already contributing significantly to addressing the issues raised in the Inquiry's report.
