Program Management and Evaluation Branch
The Program Management and Evaluation Branch is responsible for contributing to the goal of closing the gap in life expectancy for Indigenous Australians by improving the prevention and management of chronic disease in Indigenous Australians across the health system, improving access to maternal and child health services, and delivering other targeted programs to Indigenous Australians.

Indigenous Chronic Disease Package (ICDP)
The section is responsible for establishing and managing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Chronic Disease Fund to improve the prevention, detection and management of chronic disease to improve life expectancy. The section is leading and overseeing the implementation of the Indigenous Chronic Disease Package (ICDP) within the Fund. The ICDP is the Commonwealth's contribution to the National Partnership Agreement on Closing the Gap in Indigenous Health Outcomes. The section implements the Expanding the outreach and service capacity of Indigenous health services and the Indigenous Web Based Primary Health Care Chronic Disease Resource ICDP measures. The section also manages a range of contracts for the development of materials relevant to Indigenous population health and primary health care service delivery.Program and Policy Evaluation Section
This section is responsible for monitoring and evaluation of Indigenous health policies and programs managed or coordinated by OATSIH with a priority on:- The Indigenous Chronic Disease Package
- The Closing the Gap in the Northern Territory health measure
Early Childhood Section
The Early Childhood Section has overall policy coordination and program management responsibility for the New Directions: Mothers and Babies program – An equal start in Life for Indigenous Children initiative; the Strong Fathers Strong Families program; the implementation of the Australian Nurse Family Partnership Program and the Indigenous Early Childhood Development National Partnership.Enquiries: Please email oatsih enquiries or phone 02 6289 5291.
