Health ministers make childhood obesity a major theme for next Australian Health Ministers' Conference

Health Ministers have asked the National Obesity Taskforce to come back to the next Australian Health Ministers' Conference (AHMC) with a progress report on its implementation of its Report, approved by Ministers in early 2005.

Health Ministers have asked the National Obesity Taskforce to come back to the next AHMC with a progress report on its implementation of its Report, approved by Ministers in early 2005.

Ministers have agreed to ask the National Obesity Taskforce to report back to Health Ministers in April 2006 on progress to date on implementing the Health Weight 2008 Report, including action taken to progress research to understand and assess the impact of current food and drinks advertising practices on community levels of overweight and obesity, especially on children.

Obesity in children will be a significant theme of the next AHMC meeting which will be held in New Zealand next April.
