Reference Number
Grant 273/1213
Title
Better Access to Palliative Care in Tasmania Program
Description
The Department of Health and Ageing (the Department) is seeking applications from interested non-government and private providers to deliver packages of patient-centred palliative care in the community setting in Tasmania. The Department is also seeking applications to deliver vital infrastructure support services to underpin the quality and effectiveness of palliative and end of life care in Tasmania. The above services will be delivered as part of the Better Access to Palliative Care in Tasmania (BAPC) program which is a key element of the Commonwealth Government’s Tasmanian Health Assistance Package (THAP).The BAPC program includes total grant funding of up to $42.85 million (GST inclusive) for service delivery over the period 2013-14 to 2015-16. The BAPC program has been developed in consultation with the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services¸ and a range of other stakeholders. The objective of the BAPC program is to increase the provision of community based palliative and end of life care¸ including¸ for example¸ 24 hour/after-hours access and carer and family support services. The BAPC program also aims to enhance vital infrastructure support services including (but not limited to) professional development for clinicians and training for volunteers.Consortium based approaches are encouraged and will be well-regarded where the proposed approach will deliver services across more than one region or statewide.Information Session: The Department invites interested parties to attend an information session which will be held in Hobart in early May 2013. Please register your interest to: bapc@health.gov.au. Enquiries about the BAPC program or the THAP can be made through the Department’s website at www.health.gov.au or by emailing bapc@health.gov.au.
