Recreation

Canberra has an array of multicultural restaurants, art galleries, theatres, live music venues and clubs. It also has easy access to sporting facilities, green space, national parks and universities. For further information please see Visit Canberra.

The Social Network of Graduates (SNoG)

The SNoG is made up of graduates from all Australian Government Departments. SNoG organises a variety of social activities and events for its members, along with providing valuable support to those who have relocated to Canberra—events such as trips to the snowfields, sporting events, parties, and formal balls. Its is a great way to meet, interact, and form friendships and networks with graduates in other departments. To find out more about SNoG, please visit SNoG.

Finding somewhere to live

It is wise to start looking for somewhere to live as early as possible, prior to your move to Canberra. A popular website for information on what is available to buy or rent, and the prices you can expect to pay is Domain.

Travelling around Canberra

Canberra is designed as a series of satellite town centres joined by main arterial roads. Canberra's public transport service, ACTION buses, operates every day of the year and has services that cover the major sights and most suburbs quickly and easily. ACTION's services are based in the four town centre bus interchanges—City (Civic), Woden (Phillip), Tuggeranong (Greenway) and Belconnen. Further information on the ACTION bus network is available at ACTION. Canberra has a great network of on-road cycle lanes and off-road paths, connecting Civic with the town centres.
