Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
Memorandum of Understanding with Medicines Australia
The following page shows the Memorandum of Understanding between the Commonwealth of Australia and Medicines Australia
This Memorandum of Understanding documents the key innovations and reforms that will be introduced to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme over the next four years.
Reform of the Australian health system is a key deliverable of this Government. This Memorandum recognises the need to maintain efficiency and sustainability of the Pharmaceutical Benefits
Scheme as well as the need to provide some certainty about pricing policy for the Australian pharmaceutical industry.
In doing so, all Australians will continue to have access to a wide range of pharmaceuticals now and into the future to manage chronic and life threatening conditions, and at the lowest possible prices for consumers.
