Endocrinologists

A petition initiated by the US based organisation ThyroidChange, regarding the training of endocrinologists has been forwarded to the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Endocrine Society of Australia. Concerns have been raised regarding a perceived deficiency in thyroid knowledge amongst endocrinologists.
Response
The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) is the organisation accredited to provide education, training and information to endocrinologists in Australia and New Zealand. The RACP is accredited by the Australian Medical Council and the Medical Council of New Zealand to oversee accreditation standards.
Advice on clinical practice issues can be sought from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Endocrine Society of Australia (ESA).
The ESA has provided a position statement on the clinical issues raised in the petition.
