A confirmed case requires laboratory definitive evidence only, in a person known to be hepatitis B surface antigen (HbsAg) positive.Laboratory definitive evidence
1. Detection of IgM or IgG to hepatitis D virusOR
2. Detection of hepatitis D virus on liver biopsy.
