1997-98 Annual Report for the Department of Health and Family Services

The primary purpose of the Annual Report is to provide Members of Parliament and Senators with a detailed description of the Department's activities during 1997-98 against the performance targets presented in the 1997-98, Portfolio Budget Statements and the 1997-98, Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements, for the Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services. In 1997-98 the Department was called Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services.

The Department's 1997-98 Annual Report is structured in four parts:

Part 1 - Overview

The Overview provides a discursive explanation of the Department's activities, highlighting the broad strategic directions and priorities for the Department and noting key issues and achievements during the year.

Part 2 - Program Performance Reports

This section discusses the performance of individual programs within the Department. Performance is measured against set indicators outlined in the 1997-98 Portfolio Budget Statements, as amended by the Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements, for the Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services.
