The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency conducted a Review Audit between 11 and 15 December and found that the facility's performance was satisfactory against all 44 expected outcomes.

The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency has accredited the facility for 2 years (26/06/2000 to 26/06/2002).

The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency maintaining contact, as part of the accreditation process.

The sanctions were lifted on 29 December 2000.

No Commonwealth funding for new residents from 9 April 2002 until 25 June 2002. Reconsideration ended sanction on 8 May 2002.

Reason for Sanction
The Approved provider did not comply with all its responsibilities in relation to Accreditation Standards.

The Agency identified serious risk, the Department determined that there was an immediate and severe risk to the health, safety, or well-being of residents.

Current Status of Service
Sanction 1 and 2
On 11 March 2003 the Agency advised the Approved Provider of their decision to revoke the accreditation of Valencia Nursing Home. The revocation took effect from 19 May 2003.

The Agency advised the Department on 31 March 2003 that it no longer considers the service to be a serious risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of residents.

The Approved Provider applied to have sanctions lifted on 11 April 2003.

The sanction relating to suspension of certification expired on 19 April 2003.

Following a request from the Approved Provider, the Agency reconsidered its decision to revoke accreditation. It advised the approved provider on 7 May 2003 that it had decided not to revoke accreditation, but had varied the period of accreditation. The Service's accreditation now expires on 6 October 2003.

On 30 May 2003 the Department lifted sanctions 1 and 2 (the sanction relating to no Commonwealth funding for new residents and approval as an Approved Provider of aged care services revoked unless appropriate training is undertaken.
