Viability Funding - 1999 ARIA scores for locations
The Accessibility / Remoteness Index of Australia (ARIA) provides an indicator of the accessibility of services for the locality. This document contains links to the Index as at 1 July 1999.
In the 2004-05 Budget the Australian Government provided $14.5M over the next 4 years to increase the Viability Supplement paid to rural and remote providers. This is in addition to the current Viability Supplement worth approximately $13M per year.
The eligibility criteria for the viability supplement will be reviewed to ensure better targeting prior to the implementation of the increased funding from 1 January 2005.
The Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia (ARIA) is used to assess the remoteness of the location of a home. ARIA is a precise measure of the accessibility of all geographical locations in Australia. It scores each location and, depending on the score, classifies the location into one of five groups: highly accessible, accessible, moderately accessible, remote and very remote.
ARIA scores for all geographical locations in Australia can be found in the files below.
