National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP) Regional Discussion Forums and Capacity Building Project

In June 2009, each of the 54 Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres (Centres) received funds to conduct a Regional Discussion Forum and Capacity Building Project in their region.

The Centres were required to organise and facilitate regional forums with NRCP service providers to share information and best practice evidence about respite care services. Through the forums, Centres reviewed the way respite care was being provided in the region, with a view to identifying how it could be improved.

Following completion of the forums, the identified priorities for action in each region were implemented as capacity building projects. In late 2010, an evaluation of the Regional Discussion Forums and Capacity Building Project was undertaken to determine their effectiveness, appropriateness and efficiency of the Project. A summary of the evaluation report is available below.
