Department of Health and Ageing Annual Reports

The primary purpose of the Department of Health and Ageing Annual Report is to provide Members of Parliament, Senators and the public with a detailed description of the Department’s activities during a particular financial year. It reports against the performance and financial information presented in the Health and Ageing Portfolio Budget Statements and the Health and Ageing Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements.

Reports on the Operation of the Aged Care Act 1997

The Report on the Operation of the Aged Care Act 1997 meets the requirement of Section 63-2 of the Aged Care Act 1997 (the Act), that the Minister for Ageing present to Parliament a report on the operation of the Act for each financial year. This report describes the operation of the Act and associated Aged Care Principles during a particular financial year, and includes additional information to aid understanding of aged care programs and policies.

Home and Community Care (HACC) Program Annual Report 2007-08

The HACC Annual Report presents consolidated information on the performance of the national HACC program. It provides a snapshot of the HACC clients and services by state and territory and nationally.

Home and Community Care (HACC) Program Minimum Data Set (MDS) Annual Bulletin

The HACC Program MDS Annual Bulletin contains information about the HACC Program, particularly in relation to its clients, their characteristics and the services they receive. The information HACC services provided in all states and territories is summarised by financial year.

The HACC MDS User Guide contains the HACC Data Dictionary, and is designed to assist agencies providing HACC assistance to accurately report the required information about their HACC clients, and the services provided.

Aged Care Assessment Program - National Data Repository - Minimum Data Set Annual Report

This is the most recent Annual Report by the National Data Repository on the Aged Care Assessment Program (ACAP) Minimum Data Set (MDS) in Australia. The report relies on a data set comprising records from each state and territory with assessment end dates for a particular financial year. It is based largely on the Key Performance Indicators outlined in the ACAP MDS Data Dictionary version 2.1.

Reports on Government Services

The Report on Government Services is produced annually by a Steering Committee of senior officials from Australian, state and territory governments for the Council of Australian Governments (COAG). The reports are a tool for government. They have been used for strategic budget and policy planning, and for policy evaluation. Information in these reports has been used to assess the resource needs and resource performance of departments. These reports have also been used to identify jurisdictions with whom to share information on services.

2007 National Aged Care Workforce Census and Survey – Who Cares for Older Australians? A Picture of the Residential and Community Based Aged Care Workforce – Final Report

The Aged Care Workforce Census and Survey informs workforce planning on issues surrounding recruitment and retention of aged care workers. It contains a comprehensive profile of who currently provides direct care to frail older people; of skills and training gaps; types of employment and career paths; and levels of job satisfaction. The 2007 Census and Survey builds on the data derived from the 2003 census and survey of the residential aged care workforce and provides, for the first time, a comprehensive profile of the community aged care workforce.
