Senior Australian of the Year Award

By showcasing and celebrating the achievements of older Australians, this award encourages Australians to develop more positive attitudes about older people and their contributions. The Senior Australian of the Year Award is managed by the National Australia Day Council.
The Senior Australian of the Year Award, sponsored by the Department of Health and Ageing, recognises individuals over the age of 60 who have made a significant contribution to the welfare of Australia, present a positive image of ageing, and are outstanding role models in the community.
The winner of the 2013 Senior Australian of the Year was announced at the Australia Day ceremony on the lawns of Parliament House, Canberra on 25 January 2013.
