The winners of the MBA National Lifestyle Housing for Seniors Award were announced at a ceremony at the Great Hall, Parliament House on 14 November 2008.
2008 National Lifestyle for Seniors Award – Purpose Built Dwelling
BSR Constructions Pty Ltd, Beachmere Sands, Queensland
Set in beautifully landscaped gardens, Beachmere Sands villas are available in two bedroom and three bedroom combinations. All have 5-star finishes and generous living spaces. The villas have been designed to take account of the needs of older residents and include features such as handrails, lever taps, level entry points, exterior lighting and shaded areas. The wide doors and showers are wheelchair friendly. BSR Constructions has worked to build a community that shares interests and the changing needs of the older person.2008 National Lifestyle for Seniors Award – Multi Unit Development
Commercial and General Pty Ltd, The Ashbrook, South Australia
This project comprises 35 two bedroom apartments in Stage 1. Stage 2 is currently nearing the end of construction and comprises 38 apartments. The building includes a general use community centre, function room, theatre, and restaurant. The roof garden has views to the city and mountains. Commercial and General achieved a very high standard of internal and external finishes making this an exceptionally comfortable building. All of the various stages of development were thoughtfully integrated and the project was extremely well managed.Top of page
