WELL training supports the development of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) in the workplace and complements existing workplace training programs. The WELL Broker Program is funded by the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISTRE).

Organisations receive funding to increase LLN skills of employees via industry specific units of competency, therefore increasing the likelihood of the learners' success. The CS&HISC WELL Broker liaises with employers, RTOs, Indigenous organisations and DIISTRE State/Territory officers to negotiate and establish WELL training projects across Australia.

The main aim of the WELL Program is to assist organisations to train workers in English language, literacy and numeracy skills.

The programs are tailored to suit the needs of the individual organisations and individuals involved in the program so that each program is unique.

Employers report that WELL training benefits their business through a more skilled workforce leading to benefits such as:
      • Addressing skill shortages;
      • Increased staff retention and progression;
      • Workforce adaptation and adoption of technological change;
      • Reduced Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) incidents; and
      • A more productive and efficient workforce.
Participating employees reported gaining a range of work-related and personal benefits from WELL funded training including:
      • Improved confidence and communication skills;
      • Better information technology skills;
      • Greater understanding of WH&S obligations;
      • Better negotiation skills
      • An increased willingness to undertake further training.
The funding arrangement in the first year of the program is 75% contribution by the government and 25% organisation/employer.
