Care Recipient Contribution Rates Effective 20 September 2011

In this section:

Dear Community Packaged Care Providers,

CACP, EACH, EACHD and CDC care recipient contribution rates effective 20 September 2011

Pension rates are indexed twice yearly on 20 March and 20 September.

The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) recently announced new pension rates that will take effect from 20 September 2011.

Further information about the new pension rates is available at: Rates Indexation - September 2011.

The new basic single Age Pension rate should be used when calculating the maximum daily CACP, EACH, EACHD and CDC care recipient contributions for people on the basic rate of the pension.

Accordingly, from 20 September 2011, the maximum contribution for care recipients receiving community care packages (CACP, EACH, EACHD and CDC) on the base rate of pension will increase from $8.38 to $8.61 per day. This is 17.5% of the base rate of the Age Pension and is the maximum fee that can be charged. For those care recipients whose income exceeds the basic rate of pension, the maximum fee is 17.5% of the person’s income to the level of the basic pension, plus up to 50% of income (minus income tax and the Medicare levy) above the basic pension.

Further information about care recipient contributions is available at Care recipient contributions and subsidies for home care packages on the Department's website.

Yours sincerely
