Invitation

You are invited to take part in a workshop about the transition of Home and Community Care (HACC) aged care services to the Commonwealth. The workshop will build on information presented at previous consultations held around Australia. The workshop will focus on the program framework for the aged care component of HACC, funding arrangement details and preparations the sector can begin to take for the transition.

To ensure a smooth transition the Commonwealth is engaging with stakeholders to find out what is needed to support and build the capacity of the sector during this period.

The Commonwealth is working closely with state and territory governments on developing new arrangements for HACC aged care to come into effect from 1 July 2012.

Under the Heads of Agreement – National Health Reform, signed on 13 February 2011, the Commonwealth and all states and territories agreed that the Commonwealth will be the level of government with full funding, policy, management and delivery responsibility for a national aged care system.1
