Guide to Changes to Accreditation for Residential Aged Care Services
Dear Approved Providers
Following implementation of the new Accreditation Grant Principles 2011 on 20 May 2011, the Department of Health and Ageing has released a Guide to Changes to Accreditation for Residential Aged Care Services (the Guide).
The Guide has been prepared to assist approved providers and consumers to understand the changes to the accreditation processes detailed in the Accreditation Grant Principles 2011. The Guide has been written in plain English to provide general guidance on the new legislative requirements.
The amendments to the Accreditation Grant Principles do not change the role of the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, rather they produce a more streamlined accreditation process.
