Service System Development
Service system development activities are critical to to the development of the HACC sector.
The Commonwealth HACC Program provides funding to service providers for activities that support the development of the HACC service system. These activities are called service system development activities. You may have previously known these activities as non-output services or 018 services.
Service system development activities focus on:
Building the evidence base
These activities aim to build an understanding of the population that benefits from community care as well as evaluating outcomes and effectiveness of the service delivery model. The activities include:- research about the target population
- research and evaluation to decide what works successfully to assist people to remain independent and in the community longer
Service interventions
Service interventions are activities that develop service delivery models to incorporate best practice and innovation. These activities may include:- advisory services targeting specific clients
- initiatives targeting special needs groups
- new service delivery models
Sector support and development
These activities aim to build the capacity of the community aged care service sector to meet the needs of the clients; incorporate the outcomes of the evaluations; and develop best practice. The activities include:- workforce initiatives, including training and incentives
- providing specific workers in HACC regions that facilitate collaborations and support between Commonwealth HACC funded organisations volunteer and peak body support
