Community Care
Summary of discretionary grants
One-off grants for community organisations providing assistance to frail, older, socially isolated people, were recently dispersed by the Government to community organsiations nationally.
The Government recently provided 21 one-off grants to a range of community organisations that provide frail older people with emergency meals, shelter and clothing, and with services that encourage and support social re-engagement.
The dispersal of the funding is in line with the Government's social inclusion agenda and its commitment to provide continuing support to frail older people. The grants were provided to a range of national and state and territory organisations that provide services. The one-off grants include:
- funding of up to $500, 000 to Anglicare Australia to provide services that support social re-engagement, including $300, 000 to undertake research and pilot projects that support participation of socially isolated older people in the community; and
- funding of up to $150, 000 to the ACH Group to commence a program to address high level isolation amongst older people living in the community.
