Ageing and Aged Care Committees

Accountability Framework Reference Group Community Aged Care Packages (CACP) and Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) Programs

This Committee provides strategic advice to the Department on refinement and development of an accountability framework for CACP & EACH on each of three areas:
  • Quality reporting
  • Data collection on service provision
  • Financial reporting
The Accountability Framework Reference Group was established on 6 March 2003 with an expected duration of October 2003.

Aged Care Advisory Committee

The Aged Care Advisory Committee is the major forum for consultation, discussion and advice on issues of relevance to Aged Care. It provides advice to the Minister for Ageing.
The Committee is a non-statutory committee and is comprised of consumers, providers and government representatives.
The Committee reports to the Minister for Ageing and the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Aged Care Funding Instrument Reference Group

The Aged Care Funding Instrument Reference Group (ACFI Reference Group) provides a forum for discussion and advice to the Department on the development of the new funding model for residential aged care and the administration of the current Resident Classification Scale.

The ACFI Reference Group is chaired by the First Assistant Secretary of the Ageing and Aged Care Division, Department of Health and Ageing and reports to the Department.

  • Aged Care Planning Advisory Committee (ACPAC), Western Australia

  • Aged Care Planning Advisory Committee (ACPAC), Tasmania
  • Aged Care Planning Advisory Committee (ACPAC), Northern Territory

The Aged Care Planning Advisory Committees exist in each State and Territory to provide advice on the distribution of new places among aged care planning regions.
Each Committee reports to the delegate of the Secretary of the Department of Health & Ageing through their individual State & Territory Office Managers.

Aged Care Assessment Program, (ACAP) Officials

The Aged Care Assessment Program Officials advise on the operation of the Program.

Established in the mid-1990s, the ACAP Officials Committee has an ongoing duration. The Committee is currently discussing Program Management role for the ACAP.

Aged Care Assessment Program (ACAP), Data Working Group

To ACAP Data Working Group provides advice on reporting requirements for the ACAP Minimum Data Set, version 2.

The ACAP Data Working Group reports to the ACAP Officials Committee.

Aged Care Workforce Committee

The Aged Care Workforce Committee provides advice to the Australian Government on Aged Care Workforce Issues.

Established in 1996 the Committee is an ongoing Committee with members appointed by Minister for Ageing. The Committee reports to the Minister for Ageing.

Sub-committees

  • Nurse Practitioner Sub-Committee

    This sub-committee provides advice to the Aged Care Workforce Committee on the development of Nurse Practitioners in aged care.

    The sub-committee is time-limited for the Nurse Practitioner trials (12 months from July 2003).
  • National Aged Care Workforce Strategy Sub-Committee

    The National Aged Care Workforce Strategy Sub-Committee provides advice to the Aged Care Workforce Committee on the details of the National Aged Care Workforce Strategy.

    This sub-committee is time limited to the development of the Strategy, due to be finalised in December 2003.

Commonwealth and State/Territory Aged Care Officials

The Committee provides a forum for Commonwealth and State/Territory officials responsible for aged care programs to progress an integrated national approach to ageing issues that involve Commonwealth, State and Territory governments.

The Committee reports as appropriate to relevant Ministers on matters arising from, or relevant to, the Commonwealth and State/Territory Aged Care Officials Group.

Commonwealth Carelink Centre Information System (CCCIS) Reference Group

The CCCIS Reference Group discusses enhancements to, and the maintenance of the CCCIS.

The Reference Group was established on 13 August 2002, and reports to the Commonwealth Carelink Program, within the Ageing and Aged Care Division, Australian Department of Health and Ageing.

Consumer Working Group

The Consumer Working Group provides advice to the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing on key consumer issues with the intention of developing high quality services for the recipients of aged care.

The Consumer Working Group reports to the Aged Care Advisory Committee.

Continence Management Advisory Committee

Continence Management Advisory Committee guides Stage 2 of the National Continence Management Strategy.

The Committee was established in 2002 with an ongoing portfolio and provides advice to the Chair (Assistant Secretary, Community Care Branch) as the decision maker for the National Continence Management Strategy.

Expert Reference Group for the Clinical IT in Aged Care

The Reference Group for the Clinical IT in Aged Care provides advice to the Clinical IT Project Team on issues relating to information technology, nursing, aged care, health informatics and clinical terminology and language.

The Reference Group is comprised of Aged care industry representatives with IT expertise or interest, IT professionals / academics with knowledge of health informatics, and representatives of the Commonwealth Government.

Home and Community Care (HACC) Officials

The HACC Officials oversee the general direction of the HACC Program.

This currently includes:
  • Reconsideration of HACC Agreements between Commonwealth and each State or Territory; Development of new 2003-06 Triennial Plan
  • Trialing new models of assessment
  • Continued implementation of HACC National Service Standards Instrument; and
  • Continued implementation and further development of HACC MDS.
The Committee was established in 1985 and reports to the Community Services Ministers Advisory Council (CSMAC).

Home and Community Care (HACC) PlanNet Reference Group

The HACC PlanNet Reference Group oversees enhancements to and maintenance of HACC PlanNet, ensuring that functionality is consistent with HACC policy and legislation, and meets the information and program management needs of all stakeholders.

The Reference Group was established in 2001 and meets 2-3 times per year. The Reference Group reports to the HACC Officials.

Home and Community Care (HACC) Standards Working Group

The Home and Community Care (HACC) Standards Working Group oversees implementation of HACC Standards.

Established in 1991 with an ongoing duration the Working Group reports to the HACC Officials.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander HACC Reference Group

The Reference Group provides input and advice on national Indigenous HACC issues, policy and planning.

The Reference Group was established in November 1997, and reports to the HACC Officials.

National Evaluation Steering Committee for the Innovative Care Rehabilitation Services Pilots

The National Evaluation Steering Committee for the Innovative Care Rehabilitation Services Pilots oversees the evaluation of the innovative care rehabilitation service pilots.

The Steering Committee fucntions as a part of the evaluation process and is chaired by the head of Policy and Evaluation Branch (Ageing and Aged Care Division, Department of Health and Ageing).

Transactions and Technology Reference Group

The Transactions and Technology Reference Group is a consultative forum between the Department and the aged care sector on eBusiness and payment related matters.
