2009 Minister's Awards for Excellence in Aged Care

The Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Aged Care recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations who demonstrate innovation and commitment to staff development, education and training to achieve quality outcomes for aged care recipients.

The Minister for Ageing, the Hon Justine Elliot MP invites nominations for the 2009 Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Aged Care. The Minister for Ageing, the Hon Justine Elliot MP, invites nominations for the 2009 Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Aged Care. The awards recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations who demonstrate excellence in improving the quality of care received by older Australians.

Eligibility

Nominations for the 2009 awards will be accepted for organisations providing:
  • residential aged care;
  • community care through Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs);
  • flexible care through Extended Aged Care at Home Packages (EACH) and Extended Aged Care at Home - Dementia Packages (EACH Dementia); and
  • services through the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program that are delivered to the frail aged
  • respite care through the National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP)
so long as those organisations have a history of meeting their care responsibilities (see below) and lodge a completed nomination by 5:00pm on 27 February 2009.

Eligible residential aged care, community aged care and flexible aged care organisations will be approved providers under the Aged Care Act 1997 (the Act) with a record of meeting their responsibilities under the Act since 1 January 2007.

Eligible HACC organisations will be State or Territory contracted or funded organisations with a record of meeting their responsibilities under their contract or funding agreement since
1 January 2007.

Eligible NRCP organisations will be ones that also have a record of meeting their responsibilities in the period since 1 January 2007.

Nominations for the 2009 awards will be accepted for individuals providing that the nominated individual in each case is an employee of an eligible organisation.

Award Categories

The award categories are:

Individual Awards

  • Leadership and Achievement; and
  • Achievement in Service Provision in a Regional, Rural or Remote Area.

Organisational Awards

  • Innovation in Staff Recruitment and Retention;
  • Excellence in Training and Staff Development; and
  • Innovation in Information Technology.
Individuals and organisations interested in nominating a person or an organisation for the awards should read the General Information Booklet and complete both a Nomination Form and a Statement of Achievement.

Information contained in the General Information Booklet will assist in the completion of both the Nomination Form and the Statement of Achievement.

5:00pm on 27 February 2009.

Nominations will be acknowledged by mail.

  • Faxed and/or emailed applications WILL NOT be accepted.
  • Late entries WILL NOT be accepted.
