Archived residential care fees and charges

The maximum fees and charges for residential aged care services have been updated with effect 1 April 1999 to reflect changes in income support payments. Income support payments, including age and service pensions, may be indexed in March and/or September. The figures, listed below, are effective from 1 April 1999.

* Residents who entered a hostel before 1 October 1997 and agreed to pay a higher variable fee may continue to pay that amount, less any rent assistance they were receiving before this date.
** People with assets between these amounts may pay an accommodation charge on a sliding scale, based on the margin of assets above $23,500 divided by 5 years.
*** Pensioner Supplement is indexed annually on 1 July.
