International Day of Older Australians -1 October 2009
On 1st October, International Day of Older Persons, Noeline was still performing in Duets at the Ensemble Theatre, Sydney.To help celebrate this important day residents from The Landings Retirement Village in North Turramura, Sydney visited Noeline at the Theatre.
Guest Speaker, Moria Seniors Week Gala Day - 5 October 2009
To help celebrate Seniors Week in Moira Shire, Victoria, Noeline attended the Moira Shire Seniors Gala Day on 5 October which was organised by the local Council.Guest Speaker, Seniors Safety Forum –and Pensioner Award Ceremony Watsonia RSL with Jenny Macklin MP - 7 October 2009
On 7th October Jenny Macklin MP invited Noeline to attend a Seniors’ Safety Awareness Forum in her electorate of Jagajaga. A member of the Victorian Police Force attended and provided very useful advice about staying safe as you grow older. Noeline was very impressed that such valuable advice and information was being provided to so many older people.After the Forum Noeline participated in a Pensioner Award Ceremony with Minister Macklin, honouring local senior Australians who have done great work in their local community.
Guest Speaker, Ageing Well Expo – Peninsula Health Victoria - 8 October 2009
Visiting Mansfield and participating in a panel discussion about the issues facing senior Australians with Tammy Fraser (wife of ex Prime Minister of Australia, Malcom Fraser) was a very memorable event for Noeline. The people of Port Lincoln, SA, certainly know how to treat visitors to their city. On 11 October Noeline was invited to present awards to the 12 most outstanding volunteers of the year and she was thrilled to meet these amazing senior Australians.Guest Speaker, WA Centre for Health and Ageing - 12 October 2009
From Port Lincoln the Ambassador went to Perth and while there she revisited the WA Centre for Health and Ageing (WACHA).The Centre is a collaboration between the University of Western Australia's Schools of Medicine & Pharmacology, and Psychiatry & Clinical Neurosciences, and the Health Department of Western Australia.Researchers from the Centre shared some of their latest research findings with Noeline, which she found interesting and educational. Noeline believes the Centre is doing great work and she has immense respect for the Centre and its staff.
Guest Speaker, National Seniors Australia WA State Convention - 13 October 2009
On 13 October the Ambassador attended the National Seniors Australia Convention, themed ‘Looking Forward, Reflecting Back’. Around 200 people attended the event and Noeline’s speech on positive ageing was well received by the attendees.Guest Speaker, Australian Public Service Commission Seminar on Ageing Workforce - 14 October 2009
While in Perth Noeline was invited to be guest speaker at one of the Australian Public Service Commission’s Executive Breakfast Seminar events held on 4 October. Noeline attended a marvellous event promoting positive ageing in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, on 15 October. The event brought together older people across the region and its aim was to celebrate the many and varied achievements of older people, while acknowledging the enormous contribution they make to the community.Guest Speaker, City of Casey Ageing Positively Event - 16 October 2009
On 16 October Noeline attended the City of Casey’s ‘Ageing Positively Festival’. The aim of the event was to encourage the participation of older people through the arts and provide them with information on the range of opportunities and programs available. It was also a day where older people could socialise in a fun environment. Noeline was very impressed with the festival and she congratulated the organisers for arranging such a worthwhile event.Top of page
