Guest Speaker, Arts and Health Conference – Port Macquarie - 10 November 2009

Noeline attended the ‘Arts and Health Conference’ in Port Macquarie on 10 November and she felt very much at home at this event.

This important event looked at how the arts, when it is professionally incorporated into healthcare strategies, can positively impact on the health and wellbeing of patients, carers, health professionals and people involved in healthcare services.

The conference also looked at scientific research that showed how the arts can improve the quality of life for those people living with chronic health conditions.

Guest Speaker, Arts and Health Conference – PresCare Hopetoun Over 50s Community and Health Expo - Brisbane - 12 November 2009

On 12 November PresCare, a Ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland, hosted the PresCare Hopetoun Over 50’s Community and Health Expo in Corinda, Brisbane, and Noeline was thrilled to attend to promote healthy active ageing messages.

The Expo provided older people with valuable information about what is available for them to remain living independently in the community.

Guest Speaker, Arts and Health Conference – Older People Speak Out Media Awards- Brisbane - 23 November 2009

Noeline attended the Older People Speak Out (OPSO) Media Awards on 23 November in Brisbane.

OPSO is an independent group who speak out on older people’s issues.

The OPSO Media Awards were introduced in 1994 to reward the Media for articles, photographs, advertisements and features which reflect positive treatment of seniors and the issues they face. At the Awards Noeline spoke about dispelling some of the myths about ageing. It was a night to remember and congratulations to the organisers.

Guest Speaker, Seniors Task Force Forum – Brisbane Police - 24 November 2009

While in Brisbane Noeline attended the Seniors Task Force Forum hosted by Community Safety and Crime Prevention Branch of the Queensland Police. The event was held at the Police Headquarters, Brisbane, on 24 November.

The aim of the event was to acknowledge the commitment and work of the Queensland Seniors Task Force while promoting information resources and networks to community members.

Prior to her speech, Noeline was introduced by the Queensland Commissioner of Police, Bob Atkinson, and then welcomed with a performance by a Police Bag Pipe player. Noeline was touched by the warm welcome she received from the Queensland Police.
