U3A on Display - Sunshine Coast - 18 January 2013
Over 1,000 people attended the U3A on Display event on the Sunshine Coast on 18 January 2013. The organisers were very pleased that so many people came along to see what was on offer and they were thrilled that 200 people joined up that day.
During Noeline's presentation she congratulated U3A Sunshine Coast for having the largest regional chapter in Australia with more than 2,000 members.
"It is wonderful to see that so many older people in the Sunshine Coast region are members of the U3A organisation," Noeline said.
U3A Sunshine Coast offers more than 160 lectures, events, learning options and physical activities around the coast from Caloundra to Coolum. "There are so many interesting courses and activities available to U3A members that I am not surprised that the membership is so high," Noeline said.
Noeline urged all the visitors to the U3A event to consider becoming a member. "Challenging your mind and staying connected to life are so important to healthy active ageing," Noeline said.
Currently there are 232 U3A clubs in Australia with over 60,000 members.

Suncare Community Services Sunshine Coast Carer's Forum - 18 January 2013
Noeline really enjoys attending the carers forums put on by Suncare Community Services and the one held on the Sunshine Coast on 18 January gave her another opportunity to talk to carers about the importance of looking after themselves.
"Carers spend much of their time helping others, and this can sometimes mean they put their own needs aside," Noeline said.
"These forums are really important because it is a day that focuses on carers. It is a day where strategies are discussed about how carers can better cope with the challenges of looking after someone else."
Suncare Community Services provide care, support, information and referral services to members of the community, including the frail aged and people with a disability.
"Carers are a special breed of people and they deserve our love and support so they can continue to do the selfless work of looking after another person in need," Noeline said.
