Guest Speaker, City of Sydney Seniors Christmas Lunch - 16 December 2009

The City of Sydney put on a fantastic Seniors Christmas lunch on 16 December and Noeline attended to spread the messages about how to age well. At the event, held on 16 December, the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Phillip Black launched a program called GOLD (Growing Older Living Dangerously) – the program is a set of fun and healthy activities, held between January and June 2010, for seniors living in Sydney. Activities include yoga, hydrotherapy and surfing.

Guest Speaker, Timehelp Seniors Volunteer Annual Celebration Lunch - 17 December 2009

Noeline attended her last event for the year on 17 December – it was the Timehelp Seniors Volunteer Annual Celebration and Recognition Luncheon in Altona, Victoria.

The lunch was about recognising and celebrating the efforts of the many retirees who volunteer as Timehelpers in public and secondary schools each week.

The Timehelp program was founded in 2004 by Charities Aid Foundation Australia (CAF), The Alcoa Foundation and Lisa Kingman. The program came about because of the growing ageing population, a dwindling supply of parents helping in classrooms, a lack of resources in schools to source, manage and support volunteers and a real opportunity to connect the older generation with the younger generation in a creative, sustainable and mutual beneficial way.
