Aged Care Reform Implementation Council
The Aged Care Reform Implementation Council will oversee delivery of the aged care reform package and provide independent advice to the Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, the Hon Mark Butler MP and the Department of Health and Ageing on the implementation of the aged care reforms.
Membership
In June 2012, Minister Butler announced the appointment of Professor Peter Shergold AC as the Chair of the Council. Professor Shergold brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to he role. On 1 August 2012, the Council membership was announced. It comprises a diverse mix of Australians dedicated to improving the aged care sector.Chair

On 6 August 2012, Professor Shergold delivered is first public address as Chair of the Aged Care Reform Implementation Council at the National Aged Care Conference. He outlined the role of the Council and highlighted the importance of well managed implementation to ensure the Living Longer Living Better aged care reform package delivers the intended outcomes. You can view Professor Shergold's address on the National Aged Care Conference website.The council held its inaugural meeting in Adelaide on 7 August 2012, where for the first time members discussed their implementation agenda. The second meeting was held on 19 October 2012.
