Aged Care Assessment Teams

The 2008 National Aged Care Assessment Program (ACAP) Conference

The National Aged Care Assessment Program 2008 Conference was held on 28 and 29 May 2008 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Department of Health and Ageing agreed to host the National ACAP Conference as one of the main components of the ACAT National Training Strategy. The last National ACAP Conference was held in 1994.

The Conference theme 'ACAP in the 21st Century' provided an opportunity to share and explore innovative practices in a forum specifically designed for ACAT members.
There were 650 attendees with representation from every state and territory over the 2 days.
Keynote speakers included:

  • Bernard Salt, a leading demographic specialist, KPMG
  • Greg Mundy, the Chief Executive of Aged and Community Services Australia,
  • George Margelis, Industry Development Manager for Intel's new Digital Health Group.
  • Dr Tim Sharp, Founder of the Happiness Institute
  • Robyn Moore Motivational Speaker and Voice-Over Artist (the voice of Blinky Bill)
Concurrent sessions (24 in total) featured the following themes:
