Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling

The Non-Directive Pregnancy Support Counselling MBS Items and the Pregnancy, Birth and Baby service support women, their partners and families in making informed decisions about pregnancy-related issues.

• Pregnancy, Birth and Baby

Pregnancy, Birth and Baby (PBB) is a telephone helpline and online service that provides access to information and support for women, their partners and families on pregnancy and the first 12 months of a baby’s life. Where appropriate, the PBB helpline directs callers to maternity-related services including specialist and support services. The helpline offers counselling on general antenatal and postnatal issues, non-directive counselling on pregnancy options and will put you in touch with local specialist and support services if further assistance is required.

These items provide Medicare benefits for the provision of non-directive pregnancy support counselling by eligible GPs, and psychologists, social workers and mental health nurses on referral from a GP.
