- Annual: from financial year 1984-85 onwards.
  • Average Patient Contribution per service by BTOS and State/Territory:
- Quarterly: from September quarter 1984 onwards;
- Annual: from financial year 1984-85 onwards.

Statistics are presented by Broad Type of Service (BTOS), State and Territory and Remoteness Area.

The statistics for ‘Total Medicare’ differ from what was published prior to June 2012 due to the exclusion of the BTOS ‘Dental Benefits Schedule’ which is under Dental Benefits Act 2008. Other types of BTOS are under the Health Insurance Act 1973. The ‘Dental Benefits Schedule’ was counted in BTOS “Other MBS Services” prior to June 2012. It is now presented as an individual BTOS.
