Enhanced Primary Care Program (EPC)
Dental services under Medicare
Medicare dental items (Medicare items 85011-87777) are available for people with chronic conditions and complex care needs, on referral from a GP. Eligible patients can access up to $4,250 in Medicare benefits for dental services over two consecutive calendar years.
Important Note
Subject to Parliament’s agreement, the Government intends to close this scheme to all patients at the earliest opportunity once Parliament resumes on 26 August 2008.It is important that patients and providers understand that, in closing the scheme, the Government does not intend to provide a transition period for treatment to be completed. Once the scheme is closed, patients will not be able to access these Medicare rebates.
