Information about the Audit and Fraud Control Branch - AFCB

The Audit and Fraud Control Branch provides internal audit and fraud prevention and investigation services for the Department. These are delivered in accordance with the provisions of the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 and the Commonwealth Fraud Control Guidelines.

In 2010-11 AFCB plans to address a range of identified risks within the Department by undertaking a series of audits on legislative compliance, financial management, procurement and grants management and business support systems.

In addition to planned audits, it is envisaged that the AFCB will provide other services to the Department including servicing the Audit Committee, providing advice to other areas of the Department in relation to financial management and control, liaison with the Australian Audit National Office, the Commonwealth Ombudsman’s Office, the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit (JCPAA) and other agencies within the Health and Ageing Portfolio.
