The Guidelines for Smallpox Outbreak, Preparedness, Response and Management provides technical information about the management of a threat, or an outbreak, of smallpox.

The Guidelines have a system of response codes that change with the risk of a smallpox outbreak. The main body of this document provides operational guidelines for each of the levels. The appendices provide detailed information on specific topics and are referenced in the relevant areas of the text.

While this document provides guidance for health care workers, the most important ation if a case or a suspected case, were to occur in Australia would be to seek expert advice.
