Health Alert: BonSoy soy milk recall
Food Standards Australia New Zealand has advised people not to consume BonSoy soy milk. Coffee shops, retail and other outlets should not use this product. Nine adults and one child who reported consuming BonSoy soy milk recently presented in NSW with thyroid problems. Testing of samples of the product showed unusually high levels of iodine.

Australian Government Funding to Drive Reform in Clinical Teaching
On Friday 11 December 2009, the Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon MP announced that the Australian Government is acting to address Australia’s critical shortage of health professionals by investing $157 million in clinical teaching and training infrastructure and to support undergraduate health professional students in 2010.
The Fourth National Mental Health Plan was launched by the Australian Health Ministers’ Conference on 13 November 2009.
The Plan has five priority areas for government action in mental health:Social inclusion and recovery; prevention and early intervention;Service access, coordination and continuity of care; quality improvement and innovation; and accountability - measuring and reporting progress.
Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Guidelines for Early Childhood Settings
The Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, and Minister for Early Childhood Education, Kate Ellis, have launched new Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Guidelines, titled Get Up & Grow for early childhood settings.
