National Tobacco Strategy
The National Tobacco Strategy 2004-2009 is a policy framework for the Australian Government and State and Territory Governments to work together and in collaboration with non-government agencies to improve health and to reduce the social costs caused by tobacco.
National Tobacco Strategy 2004-2009: The Strategy
The new Strategy builds on and further refines the comprehensive and collaborative approach to tobacco control undertaken through the former National Tobacco Strategy 1999-2003/04. It reflects evidence about the health effects of tobacco and the views of experts about the best ways to reduce those effects in society. The Ministerial Council on Drugs Strategy, the peak policy and decision making body on licit and illicit drugs in Australia, endorsed the new Strategy at its meeting on 12 November 2004.- National Tobacco Strategy 2004-2009 and the supporting documents are available online
