National Indigenous Australian's Sexual Health Strategy 1996-97 to 1998-99
The strategy provides a comprehensive approach to preventing the spread of HIV and other sexually transmissible infections in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. It recommends action in four priority areas: prevention; treatment, care and support; workforce issues; and research and data collection.
The National Indigenous Australians' Sexual Health Strategy 1996-97 to 1998-99 (NIASHS) provides a comprehensive approach to preventing the spread of HIV and other sexually transmissible infections (STI's) in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The NIASHS recommends action in four priority areas: prevention; treatment, care and support; workforce issues; and research and data collection. It aims to strengthen the capacity of the community controlled primary health care sector to respond to Indigenous sexual health and build partnerships with the mainstream health sector.
