Clinical Casemix Committee of Australia
This page contains information about the role of the Clinical Casemix Committee of Australia (CCCA).
The role of the Clinical Casemix Committee (CCC) is to provide clinical advice to the Department of Health and Ageing. The Committee's terms of reference include liaison with clinicians, professional bodies, and State, Territory, private and other health organisations on casemix issues. The members are appointed on the basis of clinical expertise, rather than affiliations with a particular College or organisation. The CCC (originally established in 1990 as the Australian Casemix Clinical Committee (ACCC) and then became the Clinical Casemix Committee of Australia (CCCA) in 2000) has contributed to the refinement of several versions of the Australian DRG classification (both AN-DRGs and AR-DRGs). It has been involved with ongoing projects on casemix classifications for ambulatory care, sub and non-acute care, expanded DRGs and mental health.
New members will be invited to join the CCC by the Commonwealth for the development of each version of the DRG classification. The next version will be AR-DRG Version 6.0 due for release September 2008.
From time to time matters arise which require particular or additional expertise. To ensure appropriate clinical input on casemix issues the CCCA previously established the Clinical Classification and Coding Groups (CCCGs). Members of these are also appointed on the basis of individual expertise and are individuals who are prepared to be consulted on casemix or classification issues in their speciality areas. The CCCGs will continue under the direction of the Commonwealth and CCC.
Clinical concerns with casemix matters should be raised with the Executive Officer, PO Box 852 WODEN ACT 2606 or casemix-hfs@health.gov.au
