A discussion paper prepared for the National Strategy for an Ageing Australia which discusses choices and responsibilities confronting individuals in saving for retirement.
These publications are also available in several community languages
This discussion paper describes the retirement income system in Australia and assesses how it is placed to meet the challenges of an ageing population. It discusses the importance of employment, savings and planning for retirement. The paper identifies a range of issues which present challenges to the individuals, governments and the community as Australia's population ages.

Help with accessing large documents
When accessing large documents (over 500 KB in size), it is recommended that the following procedure be used:
- Click the link with the RIGHT mouse button

- Select an appropriate folder on a local drive to place the downloaded file

may inhibit your ability to continue browsing while the document is
opening and/or lead to system problems.
